We can't usually afford to do much in a given month regardless but I'll gladly save any money we would have spent to help this cause. Megaupload was just the beginning. If we don't make our voices heard now the internet will soon change and it won't be for the better.

I'm so happy that I want to dance...
My beloved Grandma had a minor stroke few days ago and we took her in the hospital. The doctors were and are hopeful but I was scared shitless because she is really old and she didn't seem to respond in the environment in my presence. But Tonight as I got to the hospital to help not only she recognised me but she held my hand and didn't want to let it go and if that was not enough she scolded the nurse when she was too pushy... Why I write fan fiction...

REASONS I WRITE FAN FICTION

1. To explore themes that I don't get to see in mass media using characters I love.
2. Because it's fun.
3. Because mass media does a crappy job of representing my race* and sexual orientation.
4. Because I can get more people aboard my ship writing a story than a manifesto.
5. Because TV science-fiction doesn't explore its science-fiction premises in enough depth.
6. Because it's a gift I can give a stranger and know they will enjoy it.
7. Because I resonate emotionally with the characters what I read and watch, and want to find out why by writing about it.
8. Because every tale is a universe, often with fascinating nooks and crannies that the original author never explored.
9. ~~Because I've made some of my best and dearest friends through this very wacky hobby.~~
10. Because the world the creator made is vast, and I want to see more of it.
11. ~~Because writing as a communal experience is amazing.~~
12. Because I can.
13. Because I enjoy taking a character who was created to exist in one fictional universe, putting him or her into another fictional universe of my own, and exploring how that new universe will affect this character.
14. Because even the greatest writers have written fan fiction in one form or another. Shakespeare did. The Greek dramatists did. These authors rarely created their own characters. They borrowed them from mythology or history or legend.
15. Because I love it.
16. Because if I don't write it will not leave my mind.
17 Because my main train of thought is "what if?".
18 Because the characters that I am writing for have touched me in some way emotional or mental.
